British male singer Robbie Williams has confirmed that his proposal to his girlfriend, Ayda Field was nothing more than a practical joke. His publicist confirmed that the star is not engaged to the actress.
The confusion around the event meant that even Robbie Williams own mother thought that the proposal was legitimate.
Adding to the confusion, Williams’ mother Jan later told British radio that the 35-year-old star intended to marry Field “in the not-too-distant future.”
Williams posted a short message on his official blog which read: “Hey all. We are not engaged. rob x”.
But the singer’s mother Jan later told BBC’s Radio 5 Live show: “I’m very excited. I’m really pleased. They’ve been together for nearly three years, so it’s about time.”
Field was in the studio with Williams, 35, for the “Kyle and Jackie O” show on Australian radio station 2DayFM in Sydney to promote his new album “Reality Killed the Video Star.”
Robbie Williams is one of Europe’s most successful singers and he came to fame as a member of UK boyband Take That. He has since gone onto have a very successful solo career. He now lives in LA in the USA where he has undergone rehab for drink and drugs problems. His new tour looks set to get him back on the right track.
